Colorado Weather Patterns – How Each Season Effects Your Elopement Packing List
Colorado is known for its wide range of weather patterns and temperatures. During the summer months, temperatures can reach up to the high 80’s and even 90’s in some areas. During the winter months, temperatures can dip as low as -20F in some areas. The Rocky Mountains also bring heavy snowfalls that can last days or weeks, depending on the storm. Colorado is one of the few states that gets all four seasons, so it’s important to always be prepared for the weather.
Most couples plan to elope in the mountains – which tend to be colder than the front range of Colorado! This means creating an elopement packing list that prepares you for sunshine, but also for sporadic weather patterns such as snow, rain, fog, or thunder!
Summer Weather
Summer in the Colorado Mountains is usually sunny and dry with temperatures ranging from the mid-60s to the low 80s. The days tend to be sunny with occasional afternoon thunderstorms. It’s generally a great time to enjoy the outdoors with activities like hiking, biking, rafting, and more.
Fall Weather
Fall in the Colorado Mountains is usually when the temperatures start to drop, the days get shorter, and the leaves start to change colors. During the fall months, temperatures typically range from the mid-50s to mid-70s during the day and drop to the low-30s at night. There’s also a chance of snow in early fall, so be sure to check the weather before heading out for a hike or other outdoor activities. The crisp, cool air and stunning scenery make fall in Breckenridge an unforgettable experience!
Spring Weather
Spring in the Colorado Mountains is when the days become longer, the flowers start to bloom, and the snow starts to melt, making for a spectacular setting! Springs are typically mild with temperatures ranging from the mid-30s to the mid-60s. You can expect mostly sunny days with occasional rain showers in the spring. May is usually the warmest month, so it can be a good time to visit! Enjoy your stay!
Winter Weather
During the winter months, the average temperature in Breckenridge is in the mid-20s to mid-30s. It is also common to get snowfall throughout the winter months, with some years receiving over 200 inches of snow. With the combination of cold temperatures and snowfall, Breckenridge is an ideal location for skiing, snowboarding, and other winter activities on your elopement day!
