Thinking of eloping in Breckenridge? Breckenridge is the closest major mountain town to Denver, Co making it a favorite for locals and those who are flying in! Breckenridge is one of my favorite elopement locations in all of Colorado – with so much accessibility, good food, and activities. This guide will help you start dreaming and planning your Breckenridge adventure elopement!
Breckenridge Elopement Locations
Breckenridge has such a great mix of accessible ceremony sites, off roading locations, and alpine lake hikes! This makes it the perfect place for eloping just the two of you, or if you plan to have a small guest list!
Sapphire Point Overlook – Perched high above Dillon Reservoir, Sapphire Point offers panoramic views of the Tenmile Range. This site is great for eloping with a small group that has accessibility issues and/or prefers a drive up site!
Mountain Lakes – For adventurous couples, Breckenridge alpine lakes provide picturesque settings that make for the perfect hiking elopement. Great for eloping just the two of you, or a couple adventurous guests! Check out my blog on a Breckenridge lake elopement here!
Boreas Pass – With its sweeping vistas of meadows, wildflowers, and snow-capped peaks, Boreas Pass offers a romantic and secluded spot for your elopement. It’s especially enchanting during the fall when the colors of the aspen trees transform the landscape.
Carter Park – Located within walking distance of downtown Breckenridge, Carter Park offers a charming gazebo and stunning views of the mountains. It’s a convenient and picturesque option for couples looking for a central location.
Mayflower Gulch – Nestled in the heart of the White River National Forest, Mayflower Gulch presents a magical backdrop with its towering peaks, alpine meadows, and old mining structures. This hidden gem offers a truly intimate elopement experience.
Spruce Creek Trail – This scenic trail takes you through a dense forest, past babbling creeks, and eventually leads to Lower Mohawk Lake. It’s a peaceful and secluded spot that captures the essence of Breckenridge’s natural beauty.
VRBO Rental – a great way to include a higher guest count but still elope in the Colorado mountains! Hold your ceremony here, and go get portraits, say private vows, or hike at another one of these locations just the two of you for the remainder of your elopement day.
When to Elope in Breckenridge
Breckenridge experiences distinct seasons, each of which can be great for an elopement. Consider the following factors when deciding the best time for your elopement –
Spring (March to May) – As the snow melts, Breckenridge comes alive with colorful wildflowers. Spring offers mild temperatures and fewer crowds, allowing for a more intimate elopement experience.
Summer (June to August) – Warm temperatures, vibrant wildflowers, and longer days make summer an excellent choice for outdoor ceremonies. However, keep in mind that this is the peak tourist season.
Fall (September to October) – The autumn foliage in Breckenridge is nothing short of breathtaking. The golden hues of aspen trees create a magical atmosphere, perfect for a romantic elopement.
Winter (December to February) – If you’re dreaming of a winter wonderland elopement, Breckenridge’s snowy landscapes and cozy atmosphere won’t disappoint. Keep in mind that winter conditions may require additional planning and preparation.
Pro Tip – My favorite season to have a Breckenridge elopement is early summer! It starts to get warm, wildflowers are blooming, and there’s a potential for snow to still be on the mountain tops. Hikes are accessible, and there’s less variations in weather patterns!
